Upcoming Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology Leadership Changes

We are very pleased to share the news that Dr. Christina Hendricks has been reappointed for a second term as the Academic Director for the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. Since commencing her appointment as Academic Director in July 2018, Dr. Hendricks has been a strong advocate for the work of the unit and has led the CTLT through significant changes in the teaching and learning landscape – particularly over the past few years in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She led a committee to implement changes to the Student Experience of Instruction end-of-term survey questions and processes, and collaborated closely with others in the CTLT and the UBC Library to design and implement the OER Fund program.

We are also delighted to share that, before Dr. Hendricks starts her second term as the Academic Director of the CTLT, she will be taking on a different role for a year. Dr. Hendricks has been appointed Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Teaching and Learning, pro tem, in the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic, UBC Vancouver, for the term July 4, 2023 – June 29, 2024.

Dr. Hendricks will begin her second term as Academic Director of the CTLT in January 2025, after completing her term as the Vice-Provost and AVP Teaching and Learning pro tem, and after she returns from a 6-month administrative leave.

For the period of Dr. Hendricks’s absence, spanning July 1, 2023 – December 2024, CTLT Deputy Academic Director, Dr. Elisa Baniassad will assume the role of Acting Academic Director of the CTLT. As Deputy Academic Director, Dr. Baniassad has contributed in many areas of the CTLT, including as the Director of the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and as Faculty co-lead for the Centre for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning.
