Invited Scholars Seminars – Susan Shaw – 2010

2010

The Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISOTL) is excited to announce the visit of Susan Shaw Professor and Director of Women Studies and the Difference, Power, and Discrimination (DPD) Program at Oregon State University, as an Invited Scholar to share her work on diversity education with the UBC teaching and learning community. Susan will be speaking about the theoretical framework for the DPD faculty program and assessing the impact of diversity education. Susan’s visit on March 15, 2010, will include two morning workshops and an intimate lunch to continue the dialogue from her morning sessions.

Susan Shaw’s visit foreshadows a new program for faculty members and graduate students that TAG will offer this fall 2010, with kick-off at the end of August. The Institute for Diversity, Equity and Action in Teaching and Learning (IDEA) will offer opportunities for pairs of faculty members and graduate students in any Faculty or School to design or re-design an undergraduate course and develop pedagogical skills to enhance student learning about diversity, equity and action.
