In support of the innovation program stream of the Flexible Learning Initiative, the Provost and Vice President Academic has made funds available to support the development of a limited number (likely four or fewer) of non-credit, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). For the purposes of this opportunity, we are interested in supporting the development of MOOCs that consist of short video lectures, web pages, automated or peer-calibrated assessments set at regular intervals, and peer-supported learning through discussion forum engagement and peer assessment activities. Please note that students, including UBC students, do not receive credit for taking a MOOC through one of UBC’s MOOC platform providers. However, we are interested in supporting proposals where strong connections exist between the content of a MOOC and one or more UBC credit courses, to ensure that UBC students benefit from the resources and approaches developed.
