Faculty & Student Hands-On Product Testing

It’s 2012, and WebCT Vista’s retired…Do you know what your Learning Management System (LMS) is? We’re working on that now – help make the decision!

The Learning Technology Advisory Council (LTAC) is working on a project that will significantly shape the future of UBC’s learning environments – the selection of a new Learning Management System (LMS). Our current system, WebCT Vista (Blackboard Vista), is used in more than 4,000 course sections, and by over 53,000 students. The Vista product line is being phased out in 2013, so we’re starting early!

We are part way through an extensive process to choose our new system, and we need your help. We invite all interested members of the UBC teaching and learning community to participate in Hands-On Product Testing for the two shortlisted products – Blackboard Learn 9.1 and Moodle 2.0.

Hands-On Product Testing: February 1 – 28, 2011

    Hello,

I am just now seeing this invite to try the two systems. I see the last date was Feb 28th. Is it still possible to take a look at them? I am an assistant professor in the blindness and visual impairment program and one of the main things we would like to know is the accessibility of each of the platforms. I have used older versions of Blackboard in the past (at which point accessibility was only so-so at best) and do not have experience with Moodle. Please let me know if it still available to test.

Thank you (I put in a request on the remote demo form just in case!)

    Hi Kim,

I’ve passed along your message to a few of my colleagues who are overseeing the product testing. They should get back to you shortly about what we can do.

    Michael
