Creating a learning resource involving video, audio or screencasting is not as daunting as it sounds, but it does take some planning, some gear, a quiet space and a bit of guidance. But where do you start?
CTLT is bringing together media experts, faculty support professionals, librarians, instructional/learning designers and students from across campus to develop and share online, ‘just-in-time’ guides, video how-tos and examples to support faculty, staff and students who are keen to create their own learning resources. We’re collaborating and iterating together to create a website where you can access:
• Planning Resources: Our Plan It guide highlights questions for you to consider as you are planning your project along with links to Guides and UBC permission forms that will help set your project on the right foot.
• Support Contacts: Find out who lends equipment, how to book it and who can consult with you about your project in your Faculty or department.
• Guides: Create It with the help of some of our step by step guides for:
o Video
o Screencasting
o Podcasting
o Using Camtasia
• Research: we have aggregated some research related to multimedia practices and their relationship to learning. This is under review.
• Events related to media development, including Camtasia training, are published on the site. The website is a live development project and a work in progress. We’ll be gathering feedback from our users over the next few months in order to improve, refine and develop new resources.
