  • Why do you think you were asked to do this activity?
  • What have you learned?

Why did you choose this slide? What are you aiming to convey with it? How do you think it contributes to student learning?

It took me a long time to realize that what I do as an educator will only impact students if it gets them to do something. We learn by creating and constructing our own knowledge, not by consuming someone else’s knowledge. My classes are centred on activities. At the end of each activity, questions like the ones on the slide appear. Learning does not occur unless we make an effort to reflect on our new knowledge and situate it in context. The aim is that after completion of an activity, students reflect on what they did, why they were asked for to do that, and what they took from the experience. In that way new, learning can be integrated into existing knowledge.
