Simon Bates, PhD

Simon Bates (PhD) provides academic leadership to CTLT which, combined with his role as Senior Advisor Teaching and Learning, ensures the centre is best positioned to support development, delivery and evaluation of outstanding teaching and learning across all Faculties and units. In addition, Simon holds a faculty position as Professor of Teaching in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, teaching on the PHYS 117 course and contributing to their Physics Education Research efforts. He is also the Lead for the Education Innovation cluster of Universitas21.

Christina Hendricks

Deputy Academic Director

Christina Hendricks, along with Simon Bates, the Academic Director, contributes to the administrative and academic leadership of CTLT and helps to advance its programs and activities. In addition, she is a Professor of Teaching in Philosophy at UBC, where she also teaches courses and helps to organize the TA training program. Currently she is serving as the Chair of the Curriculum Committee for the Faculty of Arts.

Catherine Aldana

Executive Coordinator

Catherine manages projects and activities surrounding strategic university-wide teaching and learning initiatives on behalf of the Directorate.  She coordinates and supports the work of various university Learning Technology governance committees, including the LT Leadership Team, LT Hub Leadership group, LT User Committee and LT Innovation Committee.  Catherine also assists with the planning and administration of the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) application and review process.
